Diagnostic study done and Eswatini Green Finance Taxonomy (EGFT) successfully developed. The CBE team and stakeholders have been capacitated on Greening, and phase 1 of the initiative has been concluded. EGFT currently undergoing AFI’s peer review process.

CBE is currently collecting the related data through Sex-Disaggregated Data (SDD) Template integrated into BSA Version 5. The banks are capturing and submitting the data through BSA. CBE is now validating data and testing the accuracy of the returns. CBE is also carrying out an analysis of financial sector data on the position of GIF in the system.

CBE has concluded the consultative process of the KYC Checklist for FDPs in March 2025. The Checklist was handed over to the Commissioner for Refugees to issue out as a legally binding document to all organisations and institutions that facilitate services for FDPs in the country. The Commissioner for Refugees has not yet issued the Checklist.

Presidential Decree No. 166/24 as of 18th July was approved, establishing the legal regime for institutions specialising in microfinance (microfinance, micro-savings and microinsurance companies). This new legal framework aims to encourage the emergence of these institutions and the financing of MSMEs.
