Commitment: Reduce cash usage of the Surinamese Dollar (SRD) by 30% in 2 years by promoting digital payments/ transactions. Objectives: - Improve the ease of conducting card/digital transactions for an individual; - Reduce the risks and costs of handling cash at the individual level; - Reduce costs of managing cash in the economy. Step-by-step plan to promote digital payments: 1. Measuring current transaction volume of the SRD, current amount of money in circulation/ cash flow, check the current total liquidity of banks and make an inventory of the current amount of deposits and withdrawals. Measure every 6 months to see if there is any progress; 2. Raise an awareness campaign to promote digital payments; 3. Adapt legislation and regulations to create digital payments options; 4. Digital product initiation; 5. Regulating external parties via regulatory sandbox; 6. Stimulating the use of the Innovation Hub, this must support market parties, who have questions regarding the laws and regulations concerning new financial products and services. Stakeholders: 1.
